What auto glass repair covers

  • Windshield chip repair. Bullseyes, star breaks and small combination breaks. We inject resin, cure it and stop the damage from spreading. See windshield repair for details.
  • Short crack repair. Cracks of a few inches that aren’t at the edge of the glass can often be stabilized.
  • Power window and regulator repair. Window stuck down, crooked, slow or off its track. Often the glass is fine and the regulator or motor has failed.
  • Windshield leaks and reseals. Water, wind noise or a whistle at highway speed usually means a failed urethane seal. We reseal or reset the glass.
  • Door, vent and quarter glass. Side glass is tempered and can’t be repaired once it breaks, but we replace it the same visit and vacuum out the broken glass.

Repair or replace: how we decide

Only laminated glass, which means windshields, can take a repair. A chip is usually repairable when it’s smaller than a quarter, a crack is shorter than a few inches, the damage isn’t at the edge of the glass and it isn’t right in the driver’s line of sight. If it’s past those limits, a repair won’t hold and we’ll tell you so up front. Then you need auto glass replacement instead.

Don’t wait on a chip. Heat, cold, potholes and car washes turn small chips into long cracks, and a crack almost always means a full windshield.

Insurance usually covers chip repair

Many comprehensive policies pay for windshield chip repair with no deductible, because a repair costs them far less than a new windshield. We handle the claim with your insurance company for you. See our insurance partners or fill out the insurance form.
